Archaeologists Find Treasure Tomb Betting Site
A team of archaeologists has unearthed a mysterious tomb in the desert of Egypt that is believed to have been used as a gambling site in ancient times. The discovery was made after the team was alerted to the presence of a hidden entrance in the sand dunes by local Bedouins.
Inside the tomb, the archaeologists found an assortment of gaming objects including dice, boards and figurines. Some of the figurines were carved in the likeness of animals such as camels and ostriches, which were popular motifs in ancient gambling games.
According to the lead archaeologist on the project, Dr. Ahmed el-Beheiry, the tomb is believed to date back to around 3000 BC - making it one of the oldest gaming sites ever discovered. He believes that it was probably used by wealthy nobles who would come to gamble and enjoy other forms of entertainment such as music and dance.
"The objects we found inside suggest that this was a major betting site during its time," el-Beheiry said in a statement. "We believe that only the wealthy classes would have had access to these kinds of games."
The discovery has generated much excitement among archaeologists and historians, who are eager to learn more about how ancient Egyptians enjoyed themselves. It is hoped that further excavation of the site will uncover more clues about how this unique form of entertainment evolved over time.

Royal treasure found in ancient tomb
Archaeologists in Thailand have unearthed a royal treasure dating back to the 12th century AD inside an ancient tomb. The find includes gold jewellery and artefacts, as well as a solid gold statue of a Hindu god.
The discovery was made during an excavation of the Wat Phra Mahathat temple in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The statue is thought to represent the god Vishnu, and is believed to be worth millions of dollars.
"It's the first time we've found such a statuette in this area," said archaeologist Kamolpetch Suksawang. "It's very rare and valuable."
The treasure also includes a gold necklace, earrings and rings, as well as numerous other artefacts made from gold, silver and bronze.
The find provides a glimpse into the wealth and culture of the former Srivijaya kingdom, which ruled over much of southern Thailand from the 7th to 13th centuries AD.
